I left

I leave in pieces,
bit by bit.
Slowly.

Slowly just like the dance
you once showed me.

The one dance
where the roofs fly
and the windows break.

The one dance
when the night is as dark as my eyes,
and as windy as my breath.

Now, the wind hangs around your throat,
whispers my name,
now the wind dances itself
while you beg of it to stop.

I still decide to leave,
quietly.

I still decide to leave you into her house,
untouched,
unveiled,
kissed in cheeks,
forgotten in roads of freedom.

I leave,
and run far away
until there’s no more of you,
until my memory of you is drained from the heat of the world.

And then,
only then,
we’ll meet again.
